South Africa beat Bangladesh by 220 points in their first cricket test at Kingsmead in Durban.
Bangladesh scored the lowest score in a test game in Durban with 53 runs in two innings.
Keshav Maharaj was named Player of the Match after scoring 32 points from 7 wickets in a 10-over par in Bangladesh in two innings.
It will be a memorable victory for South Africa, who are missing five first-team starters who have decided to play in the Indian Premier League. Due to the lack of bowling options in South Africa, the two spinners had to be played in part in places traditionally known to favor shimers.
Maharaj’s effort was even more impressive after hitting the ball with a finger injury on the 4th and 5th, but the cunning and precision with which he and Harmer attack Bangladesh were impressively ruthless. Maharaj locked the Mushfiqur Rahim (0) leg in front of the ticket gates in the opening game and since then batters have been in a procession back to the pavilion.
He caught the dangerous Litton Das (2) to Harmer in mid-on, then pitched and hit mid-sump Yasir Ali (5) as delivery to the middle stump.
Harmer eliminated Mehidy Hasan Miraz (0) and innings top scorer Najmul Hossain Shanto (26) before Maharaj claimed the last two wickets, the latter stopped by wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne.
The second test match will take place in Gqeberha and will start on Thursday.
