Protests Shake Northern Haiti Prior to President’s Funeral-SABC News

Anxiety shook the northern city of Haiti, Cap-Haitien, as demonstrators set a road block in protest of the assassination of President Jovenel Moise earlier this month.

The National Police Chief, who arrived in Cap-Haitien to oversee Moise’s funeral, met with protests from supporters of the murdered president who held police responsible for the killing at his residence on July 7.

Government officials say Moise was killed primarily by a team of Colombian mercenaries, but many questions remain unanswered, including why the president’s security forces did nothing more to protect him. It remains a solution.

Since Moise’s widow Martine returned from Miami over the weekend, at least one died in the city of Cap-Haitien after the same turmoil that attended her first public event.

Martine Moise, dressed in black, wearing a face mask and with a well-painted right arm on the sling, silently under the portrait of her husband when the priest praised the dead politician. I was sitting.

Martine, who was injured in the attack on her husband, said nothing, but shed tears as the memorial ended with the tension of the woman singing “Ave Maria”.
