Evidence Maggopa It was a late convocation to the team that undertook Uganda following the illness of six injured players who tested positive for Covid-19.
Buffana Buffana was leading 1-0 in half-time, but assistant coach Helman Mkhalele made a tactical change to the starting lineup before the second stanza.
He returned from the 3-4-3 formation to the more familiar 4-3-3 layout and introduced Maritzburg United’s Thabiso Kutumela and Baroka FC’s Maggopa.
The flow of the game changed quickly, with McCopa solving the problem in the 15th minute of the second half and another debut player, Bongokure Fronwan, giving South Africa the lead.
This turned out to be a very important match winner, as McCopa completed the brace with the striker’s instinctive finish and scored a goal within minutes of Uganda’s death.
In a conversation with the media, McGopa gave details of the conversation he had with Mucarele before the match on Thursday.
“I have a lot to say, but first of all, I would like to thank the Almighty God and the coaches for their call,” McGopa said.
“Before the game, my coach called me to the office. When I was playing, I was hungry and aggressive.
