Eskom says: Continued shortage of generating capacityLevel 2 load shedding is in effect from 5pm to 10pm weekdays.
Power utilities say there may be instances when load shedding needs to be implemented outside of these hours.
Eskom appeals to all South Africa to reduce electricity usage to limit the impact of load balancing and turn off all non-essential items. Spokesperson Sikhonathi Mantshantsha explains.
“As far as possible, Eskom will work to limit the load shedding implementation to evening peaks to limit the public impact of capacity shortages.”
