The South African Post Office (SAPO) has temporarily suspended airmail service to China as air connections to China are currently unavailable due to travel restrictions.
China is currently under strict lockdown restrictions as it attempts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in terms of its so-called ‘Zero COVID’ policy. However, the post office says land mail to China is still available.
The post office said it currently provides airmail service to 34 countries and ground mail to 51 countries.
Customers ordering items from other countries say they should include their mobile phone number along with their address so they can receive an SMS when they are ready to collect.
Customers are also encouraged to visit the website of the postal administration of the receiving country for further information.
