The National Institutes of Health (NDoH) has reported 972 new COVID-19 cases from a total of 17 697 tests performed in the last 24 hours, representing an accuracy rate of 5.5%.
NDoH says that as a result of ongoing research programs, a reported COVID-19 death record may be available.
The department has also reported 13 deaths, the highest of which occurred in the last 24 to 48 hours. There have been 99,725 deaths related to COVID-19 in South Africa since March 2020.
Most new cases on Sunday came from Gauteng (37%), followed by the Western Cape (25%). KwaZulu-Natal gained 17%; Free State, Mpumalanga and North West each up to 5% each; Northern Cape reached 3%; Eastern Cape reached 2%; in Limpopo filed 1% of new cases Sunday.
