Soweto’s Dlamini community is demanding a response from the City of Johannesburg as the search for the missing 6-year-old boy continues. The kid fell into an open sewer last Sunday while playing soccer with his friends.
Residents say there are many other open holes in the area that could pose a danger to children. It is said that the city did not take care of it even after receiving the report.
Attempts to obtain further responses from the city of Johannesburg were unsuccessful.
Regional African National Congress (ANC) Member Simphiwe Simelane explains:
“Yes, it has been reported. All I know is that it was reported 2 years ago. I’ve only heard of the community where it was reported. And that there are many such holes. But there are two things around this case. The other put a stone on it. But the other doesn’t seem to do anything. And the former lawmaker also agreed to the report,” he said.
