Seven people have been burnt unidentified in an accident on the R61 road between Aberdeen and Beaufort West.

According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Transport in Eastern Cape, Unathi Binqose, the incident took place on Saturday morning in Aberdeen, about 20 kilometers towards Beaufort West in Western Cape.

A light vehicle on its way from Vestur-Höfði to Austur-Höfði, with seven passengers, including three children, overturned after the driver lost control and caught fire.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and the police are investigating a criminal homicide case.
