Several municipalities in Cape Town demand the removal of the management team of the Steenberg police station, claiming that they do nothing to stop violence including the murder of family members in the area.
A group of residents from the neighborhoods of Lavender Hill, Hillview, Cafda, Retreat, Seawinds and Steenberg went to the local police station on Thursday to demand the replacement of the station management for New Week Monday.
Lucinda Evans, an activist and spokeswoman for the Communities’ Joint Body, said they had forwarded a memorandum to the police station.
The memorandum given to the authorities, the MEC for Community Security and the South African Police Services, is for the removal of the Steenberg station commander and his management team, and for the requirement that the station become a “brigadier” station, instead of a station commander, we demand that a brigadier be placed at Steenberg SAPS, ”says Evans.
