Spain supports a new package of EU sanctions on Moscow but has yet to reach an agreement as some member states are still heavily dependent on Russian oil imports and are reluctant to block it, Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alvarez said Monday.
“There are two goals when approving a sanctions package. One is not to allow (Russian President) Vladimir Putin to finance wars with European capitals, and the other is to not allow Vladimir Putin’s wars to destabilize the European Union,” Alvarez said. He said in an interview with the national broadcaster TVE.
