Stage 2 Load Limits Until Monday – Check Schedule

Eskom has announced that it will implement stage 2 load limits on Saturday due to limited power generation capacity.

Roadsheding starts at 21:00 on Saturday night and continues until 05:00 on Monday. If the power system deteriorates further, load limiting may need to be enforced early, Eskom said.

“This load limit is due to the failure of the generation unit at each of the Kusile, Medupi and Arnot power plants and the delay in returning the unit to service at the Tutuka power plant,” Eskom said.

“In addition to the above, a failure of Medupi’s coal conveyor reduced the output of the station. This has since been fixed, but it will take some time to restore full operation.”

Eskom said he needs to make heavy use of his energy reserves and need to recover them for the next week.

Eskom warns in its 2021/2022 summer load reduction forecast that the system may continue to be severely constrained in the near future.
