Statement by the Chairman of the African Union Commission on the situation in the Federal Republic of Somalia

Moussa Faki Mahamat, chairman of the African Union Commission, is deeply concerned and following the current serious political tensions in Somalia.

The chair calls for maximum restraint and calls for continued involvement and dialogue between the president and the prime minister in order to find a political solution to this situation.

The African Union once again promises to expand its support for a lasting peace and stable regime in Somalia.
