The Stormers confirmed on Tuesday that loose forward Junior Pokomela has signed a long-term deal with the franchise.
Pokomela joined Stormers from the Cheetahs on loan at the start of the United Rugby Championship.
That move has now become permanent as Pokomela, who can take any backline position, will remain at the Cape until at least 2024.
The 25-year-old has already made some valuable contributions alongside the scrum for Stormers this season and looks forward to growing further in the years to come.
“It is great to know that I have settled here in Cape Town for the next three years at an important stage in my career.
“I’ve really enjoyed the environment here and feel like I have the opportunity here to challenge myself and continue to grow with the players and coaches around me,” he said.
Stormers head coach John Dobson believes Pokomela is an exciting prospect for the future and praised the player for his work ethic.
“Junior is a committed person with great leadership potential. He has an incredibly high performance bar as a player and the way he goes about his work is a great example for everyone.
“There are few players who work as hard or are as committed to the cause as Junior. This is the kind of player we need here as we look to grow as a team over the next few years and we are delighted that he has chosen to make Cape Town his home,” he said.
