The president apologizes for the delay in submitting a citizenship report – SABC News

The planned delivery of the final report of the Citizenship Committee to President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria has been significantly delayed.

The presidency has apologized for the delay.

Live Report Delivery:

The chairman of the Citizenship Committee, Judge Raymond Zondo, was due to present the report to President Cyril Ramaphosa at 4 pm at Union Buildings in Pretoria.

The committee’s term of office was extended many times as the amount of evidence and witnesses increased. It cost taxpayers about one billion ISK.

The fifth and final report looks at the Estina Dairy Farm Agreement as well as SABC, Prasa and Transnet.

Steenhuisen slams down

DA leader John Steenhuisen says the latest delay in publishing the fifth and final report is unacceptable.

Steenhuisen about the delay:

“We have been waiting for this report for more than a week now, we were told it would come on Monday, it did not come. We were told at 4 o’clock today, it has now come and gone and I think it puts the whole situation in a very bad light. I think it should meet deadlines and keep them, because it helps to strengthen the credibility of the process. “
