Thief takes a bite out of the wall to steal a school computer

Forty-two computers were stolen Thursday night in a hole in the wall of Sapphire Secondary at Bander Beer Park.

  • All computers at Sapphire Middle School in Bander Beer Park were stolen.
  • The thief apparently broke through the wall into the computer laboratory.
  • The computer was donated to the school in September.

In the last few hours of 2020, all computers at Sapphire Middle School in Bander Beer Park were stolen.

The school received donations to Computer Labs from MTN and Huawei in September.

From the pictures of the scene, the thief seems to have accessed the computer lab by piercing the wall under the window.

Panyaza Lesufi of Gauteng MEC for Education tweeted about the invasion on Friday. His spokesman, Steve Mabona, confirmed the invasion of News24 and stated that all computers had been stolen and these were donated in September.

According to Mabona, 42 computers were stolen and the intrusion occurred by midnight.

School invasions continued when South Africa entered its first blockade last March.

Between March 18th and April 30th, 962 schools across the country were robbed, destroyed, and in some cases set on fire.
