US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Dr. Colin Kahl, and Minister of State and Head of Military Home of the President of the Republic of Angola, Francisco Pereira Furtado, meet to discuss the United States – Angola defense partnership, April 8, 2022 at the Pentagon.
The talks reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral defense cooperation, establishing and commemorating the five years of the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding between the US Department of Defense and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Angola.
Kahl and Minister Furtado discussed a wide range of topics including regional security, security cooperation, peacekeeping operations, cybersecurity, national security strategy, personnel and preparedness, and climate change.
The two sides intend to seek ways to renew the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding and continue to strengthen their bilateral defense partnership.
