• Students with better math grades are more likely to do well in the theoretical part of medical school, but not necessarily in the practical side (treating patients).
• Doctors who speak English and Afrikaans often have difficulty communicating with black patients who do not speak these languages, which can make it difficult for them to provide quality care.
• Research in the United States shows that black doctors are often more successful in treating black patients than whites.
