Severe Weather alerts

IMPACT BASED WARNINGS:

  1. (07/22/2021) A yellow level 2 for disruptive rains is expected along the coast and adjacent inland between Plettenberg Bay and Fish River, resulting in localized flooding of sensitive formal / informal settlements and driving conditions difficult.
  2. A Level 3 yellow warning for SNOW resulting in possible loss of livestock / crops is expected over high elevation areas of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Southern Interior of Namakwa (N. Cape) and Southern Cape. the free state.
  3. A yellow level 2 for destructive winds is expected along the southern coast and extends eastward, resulting in localized wind incidents.
  4. A level 2 yellow warning for WAVES (wave height 5 to 7 m) causing navigation difficulties at sea is expected between Saldanha Bay and Plettenberg.

FIRE HAZARD WARNINGS:

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and cold to very cold.

The expected UVB sunburn index: Low.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Fine and cool to cold, but very cold in places above the Highveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Nice and cool but warm in the Lowveld.

North West Province:

Temperature: Fine and cold.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the south and the center with a little rain and light snow in the morning, otherwise fine and very cold.

North Cape:

Temperature East: Cloudy to partly cloudy and cold to very cold with isolated to scattered rain showers in the south extending to the northwest in
the evening. Snowfall is expected on the southern heights from the afternoon.

Wind: Winds along the coast will be moderate to cool from southerly to southeasterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy to partly cloudy and very cold to cold with isolated to scattered rain showers along the southern coast and adjacent interior to the east, dissolving from the west in the afternoon. Snowfall can be expected on the heights of the Garden Route in the morning.

Wind: Winds along the coast will be cool to strong northwest to west east of Cape Agulhas until late morning, otherwise moderate to cool south to southeast reaching strong north of Cape Point in the evening.

The expected UVB sunburn index: Low.

Eastern Cape:

Western half Temperature: Cloudy and very cold with showers and snow on the ground.

Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong from the southwest, but sometimes almost gale in the morning.

Eastern half Temperature: Cloudy and very cold with isolated showers and snow on the ground, but cool on the Côte Sauvage.

Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong from the southwest.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Pleasant in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cold but cool along the coast and northeast. It will be very cold on the heights of the southwest.

Wind: Winds along the coast will be moderate to cool from west to southwest, becoming strong in the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index: Moderate.
