Recently, several news articles about the World Bank’s Algerian Economic Monitor have been published. Some of these articles contained false statements about the content of the most rigorously prepared reports of a team of economists working in the Maghreb region. I would like to point out that the World Bank prepares regular economic reports for its member countries. The Algeria Economic Monitor is created twice a year by World Bank staff economists and is the latest edition published on 22 December 2021. Available here.. This report has undergone a thorough quality review prior to its release and is based solely on the publicly available data referenced in the report or directly provided by Member State authorities. Its purpose is to contribute to the knowledge and dialogue on the economic and social development of the country. The report’s conclusions are consistent with the official data available on the report’s data cutoff date (November 1, 2021), most of which was published in the Algerian Central Bank Bulletin on December 22, 2021. It is posted.

It’s a shame that some of the above articles have adopted languages that anonymous authors may not have fully considered. These comments are not accepted as they are, as we do not believe they could be used as a discussion or form an element of the discussion.

The World Bank Group is a membership-based international development agency with two goals: to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity. Algeria is an important member of the World Bank Group and is represented by the World Bank’s Managing Board. The World Bank Group staff and management serve only the goals of financial institutions.
